Voters in Virginia’s 17th House of Delegates District will soon choose a Democratic nominee for the upcoming special election to fill the seat being vacated by Delegate Mark Sickles. The date of the special election will be announced at a later time.
This Sunday, the Fairfax County Democratic Committee will hold a Firehouse Primary to select that nominee.

How Do I Vote in the HD-17 Firehouse Primary?
There are two ways to participate in the Firehouse Primary for Virginia’s 17th House of Delegates District: in-person voting or online voting.

Only registered voters residing in Virginia’s 17th House of Delegates District are eligible to vote in the Firehouse Primary.

Cast Your Ballot
Date: Sunday, December 28
Time: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Voters in line by 5:00 PM will be permitted to vote.In-person voting will be available at the following locations:

The pre-registration period for online voting will close Saturday, December 27 at 5:00 PM.

Cast Your Secure Online Ballot
The online voting period will take place on:

Voters who pre-register will receive a secure ballot link by email on or before 9:00 AM on December 28.

All participants must sign a pledge affirming that they are a qualified voter in Virginia’s 17th House of Delegates District at the time of participation and that they will not support any candidate opposed to the Democratic nominee in the special election.

Curbside voting will be available at all polling locations. Voters should look for signage upon arrival in the parking lot of the caucus location. Friends or family members may assist voters in completing their ballot or declaration form if needed.
Voters who believe they are registered to vote but cannot prove their registration, or who register to vote at a caucus location, will cast a provisional ballot. The nominating committee will determine whether the provisional ballot will be counted after consulting with the voter’s local registrar’s office.
